Compare the same item
Confirm the exact item, rank, quantity, and platform. A fully ranked mod and an unranked copy can have very different prices. One unusually low listing may be unavailable or refer to a different version.
Use several comparable orders. The lowest asking price describes one listing, not the price at which every copy will sell.
Understand the reference price
An average or median summarizes the observations used to calculate it. It is a comparison point, not an official value or a promise of a buyer.
Suppose the lowest comparable listing is 20p and the reference is 25p. The 5p gap shows a difference within the sample. You would still need an available seller at 20p and a buyer willing to pay more to realize any profit.
Check the other side of the market
Read current buy orders and the snapshot timestamp. A large difference between asking prices and buy offers can mean you will need to wait or lower your expectations.
If the data is old, the sample is small, or the versions do not match, gather more information. It is reasonable to leave an item alone when the comparison is unclear.
Frequently asked questions
Does a price below the average mean I should buy?
No. Confirm the exact version, seller availability, current buy orders, and how you would resell it before making a decision.
