Write down your assumptions
Before buying, identify the exact item version, your maximum purchase price, and the price at which you hope to sell. Check whether current orders support those assumptions.
A large displayed discount is not enough if the reference is stale or the item has few comparable orders.
Limit the amount at risk
Start with a small quantity and keep platinum available for your own progression. Buying several copies multiplies your exposure to a price change and can make it harder to exit.
Account for waiting time. Platinum tied up in an unsold item cannot be used for another purchase.
Set a review point
Decide when you will review the listing and what you will do if the market moves against you. That might mean lowering the price, keeping the item for personal use, or accepting a loss.
Record completed purchase and sale prices rather than measuring success against a reference price you never received.
Frequently asked questions
Can trading be risk-free?
No. Availability, prices, and buyer interest can change. Smaller positions and clearer assumptions limit exposure but do not remove it.
